Bored Of The Same Old Vacation Options? Try These Instead

We work all year to save the money for a well-earned vacation to the destination of our choice but as we all know, it can get routine if you go to the same places and do the same things time after time. Instead of the usual 2 weeks in a beachside hotel, more and more people are trying new things and new ways of holidaying. From a series of day trips to camping to travelling to somewhere firmly off the beaten track, there are several options. If you have the imagination, the choices are almost infinite and the more intrepid traveller will be richly rewarded.

Another trend in recent years are people taking a number of short breaks throughout the year rather than taking a longer holiday once or twice a year. For example, for a three to four-day break, there is ample enough time to fly from anywhere in Australia to Sydney and make a real holiday of it. For people who live in Perth or Darwin, a trip to Sydney is, in effect, a holiday and with the number of activities on offer it has something to please everyone. Helicopter flights from Sydney, for either a city tour or further afield, give people from outside the state the opportunity to do something they haven’t done before and deliver memories every bit as precious than the ones they may have got from travelling overseas to Bali, Thailand etc.

Alternative Vacation Ideas

If you do have longer to spare than a few days and want to do something really different for your vacation, there are loads of possibilities including:

  • Road Trip in a RV – Road trips in a RV are something that many people would like to do but are maybe reluctant to step outside of their comfort zone, this is their loss. Australia is blessed with some of the most spectacular scenery on earth and some pretty decent roads as well and an RV road trip is the best way to experience this great country. Lots are RVs are now equipped with all mod cons, including full kitchen, proper bathroom and even cable TV! A well-equipped RV can be your home from home whilst out on the road and almost all who do it want to do it again!

  • Camping – If you don’t fancy driving on holiday, there’s always the option of camping for a week or two at some fantastic places. These places include but aren’t limited to: Margaret River WA, Blue Mountains NSW, Grampians National Park, Victoria and Daintree National Park, Queensland. If you have never camped before, you really are missing great experiences. Get out there and give it a go!

  • Into the Wilds in PNG – Before we start, it should be noted that Papua New Guinea is not a place for the faint hearted. It’s undeveloped and you will not necessarily have the mod cons you are used to at home, but the experience brings rich rewards. The highlands of this country have a unique culture that has largely remained unchanged in thousands of years making this the vacation of all vacations.
