Why a Woman’s Smile is Better than Her Lipstick

Why a Woman’s Smile is Better than Her Lipstick

Nowadays, women have been bombarded by all sorts of propaganda on how to be beautiful and sexy. Well, there certainly is no one stopping you from putting on as many beauty products as you can muster. To date, the cosmetics market is strong. In 2019, it was valued at $380.2 billion worldwide, a number that’s expected to reach almost half a trillion dollars or $ 63.5 billion by 2027. It’s certainly a formidable market, no doubt.

The problem is all this could make us forget that beauty also comes from the inside. For one, having a friendly personality can definitely sway a lot of votes of confidence in you more than any mascara or eyeliner can. Indeed, the mantra of external beauty matters only if it is preceded by the internal one. Who cares for a super-sexy model if she doesn’t even manage to bring out a smile?

Chances are many may fail to see it. But if you really want to take beauty to the next level, you need to develop a pleasing personality. And that can certainly mean putting your focus on a smile than on lipstick.

A Smile is Your Best Makeup

Let’s face it. External beauty is temporary. Looks or external beauty do fade over time. No matter how we put those anti-aging wrinkle removers, some time or another we have to deal with a moisture-ridden face. But personality is more lasting.

Of course, our mentality of prioritizing physical beauty over internal one can be traced to the very movies that we hold dear since childhood. For decades, Hollywood has been blasting our minds with the thought that being beautiful from the outside is the way to go; it’s a virtue.

Hold your horses, though, before you dive right in. Show business is what it is. It’s just for show. You may have wanted to emulate many of these good-looking celebrities and do what it takes to look like one.

What could leave you dumbfounded is reports reveal Hollywood has been digitally editing its casts to look as near-perfect as possible. Meaning, all those beautiful faces and figures you see onscreen are actually digitally enhanced.

But no worries. One study gives us a glimpse of how important a great personality is over outside beauty. Research done by Wrigley’s gum in the UK showed that 70% of people would find a woman more attractive if they were wearing a smile than if they were wearing makeup.

The researchers showed 1,000 people pictures of women wearing makeup but not smiling against those of women smiling but having no makeup at all. The results were convincing. Overall, the majority of women and men who were surveyed found women smiling as more attractive than those just wearing makeup.

Making that Beautiful Smile Happen

Of course, a smile of a woman that’s wearing lipstick would be best. Now, if you want to have an endearing personality, a smile could be your best ally to disarm people. But how do you get it?

The first part is to take good care of your teeth. To do that you need to practice good oral hygiene. We’re talking about brushing at least twice a day. Plus, you should use floss and mouthwash to keep those pearly whites in tiptop shape.

Now if you’re really uncomfortable with how your teeth look, a little prep work is spot on. Dropping your dental experts a visit should be wise. For one, teeth alignment problems (e.g., crooked teeth), can be corrected via braces. Even better, an orthodontic retainers laboratory can give you suitable retainers to support your teeth once those braces come off. Alternatively, you could consider booking an appointment to get your crown fitted by the dentist in paramus NJ.

Additionally, a dental hygienist can transform yellowed or stained teeth into those pearly whites everyone would like to see. Or you can also try a teeth whitening product. That should leave you with a sunnier smile.

Take note, however, that a dentist’s job is not primarily to make your teeth look good but to ensure your teeth are as healthy as possible. Dropping a visit to a dental clinic should therefore be done routinely to uncover early signs of oral issues.

The Hollywood Smile

A picture-perfect smile is not forced. It should be relaxed. That means your mouth should open slightly and not too wide. At the same time, your lower lip should match your upper teeth’ curve.

That may sound like a tall order. But we can borrow a page from our Hollywood friends. And not be shy about it.

To arrive at a most inviting smile, practice. Get in front of a full-length mirror and check your grin. A full-length mirror will allow you to check your posture and better your smile. That may sound funny but it’s effective. When you practice your smile, you can factor in improvements little by little. Eventually, you’ll feel more confident about it. And it will show.
